First we had to describe ourselves on a half page. Then we had to translate it and read it aloud. Remember, this a first draft and there is definitely room for improvement.
Original English Draft
He wanders through life, trying to find himself. A mystery to even himself. Searching. Searching. However, can one truly know who himself? Or are you defined by how others see you? These are the questions that plague Jarvis as he goes to sleep. Is the way his friends see him the real Erik Jarvis? Or is it something less tangible, more spiritual that defines him?
Maybe this is why he is so comforted by film. It is refreshing for him to see life from another perspective. Films are expressions engaging in our sense of sight, showing us the world through others eyes. Film is something that has become an important part of his life, and his goal is to be able to tell his own stories with a camera.
He tries to be liked by others. He wants to make people laugh. He tries to be nice to whomever he meets. He just wants to fit in. He does, but occasionally there is a disconnect. He is unable to understand those around him. He just nods his head and pretends to agree. For to him, the most important thing is being liked. His biggest fear is being rejected and disliked by everyone else. For he believes the road to true happiness is happiness with others.
