Element Superhero: In-neptune
For this project, we had to produce a superhero based off of a element on the periodic table.
In-Neptune is a superhero I made based off the element Neptunium, so before I go into the details of hero, I'll go into details about the element. neptunium was first created in 1940 at Edwin McMillan and Phillip H. Anderson at Berkeley. It is a heavy metal, and is able to conduct electricity and heat. neptunium has 93 electrons, 93 protons, and 144 neutrons. Also, Neptunium is harmful due to it's radioactivity, and is fissionable. Lastly, neptunium doesn't have much of a use outside of the scientific field, so it's unlikely you'll use it any of your day to day activities.
In-Neptune is not your average superhero. In fact, he's a below average hero. All of his powers are derived from properties of Neptunium, and, unfortunately, they're not good for crime fighting. First off, due to neptunium's conductivity, In-Neptune is constantly struck by lighting. Another detrimental power he has metal skin, which he has as a result of the fact that neptunium is an element. This may seem useful at first, but pigeon's constantly think he's a statue and land on him. In-Neptune is also very clumsy and constantly breaks things in half, because neptunium is fissionable. In-Neptune's origin also relates to neptunium's origins: both were man made, but for different reasons. Neptunium was made to further science, while In-Neptune was a robot made a Lastly, since neptunium is a heavy metal, In-Neptune is also very heavy. This makes him very slow, which isn't that great for crime fighting.
