The Watershed Project
For the 2014 Exhibition, our job was to create a project that was related to watersheds. My project was showed one of the various ways water from a watershed is transported.
For the 2014 Exhibition, I built a model of a water tower, that demonstrated how the water flows from the tower using gravity. I used a pump to get the water to the top and the water flowed to a container within the box to create a circular flow to not waste any water. The greatest strength of my exhibition project was my project design, since it met all the needs of exhibition. It was visually appealing, educational, and didn't waste, since the water was recycled. It seemed to draw a lot of people in, especially when I added food color to the water, I would have liked to have shared the load more. I feel like I did most of the work, and I probably should've let my partner, Michael, do a little more. He did contribute a lot by building the homes, but I should've let him be more aware and possibly let him help me build the pump system for the water tower model.
I learned a lot about local water towers via my research. For example, in California they're mostly built on hills and they are able to contain up to 30 times the size of an ordinary swimming pool. I also learned about the perils of working with water and electricity and to always make sure that any electrical outlet is as far away from water as possible. My greatest strength during exhibition was my speaking ability, since I interacted well with my audience, and my aforementioned design. I'd like to see my self grow in the way work with my future project partners. I believe I used the Habit of Intellectual Curiosity, since sought out the idea of creating a circular flow for the project, thought critically on how it'd be built, and sought after solution to very troublesome problems, such as a few leaks.
