Dumb Way to die Video: Nitrogen Pool Party
At the beginning of this project we were assigned to research a "dumb way to die" related to chemistry. After we had found our moronic death, we had to create a music video based off of it. After a few days of research, my project partner, Thomas Rada, and I discovered an incident at a party in Mexico where liquid nitrogen was poured into the pool. After we discovered our inspiration, we decided to write the lyrics, which were a parody of the Beastie Boy's song "Girls". We then asked a friend to record vocals for the song . Then, we began shooting the stop motion animation. This took many days to finish, since we had to animate each frame. We managed to save time for certain scenes, by deciding that not everything had to be drawn with markers. If we had decided to only use markers, there is no telling how long it would have taken us. The post-production editing began immediately after shooting, since we needed at much time to edit as possible. Editing is a very laborious process that requires a lot of patience. In the end, we had to scrap a few scenes we had shot, since we simply didn't have any room for them. It was hard to decide what to remove and what to keep, but in the end we realized what would best convey the meaning of the song.
